Viewfinder Latin America 2014 Open Call

Al Jazeera English has opened their call for Latin American documentary projects for its program Viewfinder Latin America.

Viewfinder is an Al Jazeera English program that seeks to develop new talent in partnership with experienced and engaged documentary forums based around the globe. The programme aims to find fresh perspectives through the lens of local filmmakers around the globe, to speak about the transformation processes that take place in their societies. 

These films focus on the power of storytelling to bring about a deeper insight into the impact of global events on local communities. This initiative launches a yearly Open Call for filmmakers in Latin America with proposals that will be considered for commissioning. After the selection process Al Jazeera will fully finance the production of up-to-six documentaries. The first Open Call in Latin America was launched in 2012, and in February of 2014 the second season will be premiered. In the two editions done so far in Latin America, over 800 filmmakers applied and 14 documentaries were produced.

The Viewfinder Latin America Open Call is organized by Al Jazeera English in partnership with DocMontevideo.
