Synopsis: Nivia, a woman of 90, comes up against an unexpected change of circumstances. She has lived with her daughter Alicia for decades but now, after years of widowhood, Alicia finds a new husband and she naturally wants to move in with him. Nivia is opposed to this relationship and she accuses her daughter of abandoning her. The two women enter into a serious and revealing conflict in which the daughter’s pursuit of new love comes up against the mother’s fear of growing old alone. The director, who is Nivia’s grandson and Alicia’s son, succeeds in remaining on the sidelines and capturing the inevitable pain of separation in a very subtle way, almost as if the story were fiction.
