Audrius Stonys, prestigious Lithuanian film maker, at the Documentary Workshop. In this year’s DocMontevideo the film maker Audrius Stonys will give a master class at the Documentary Workshop, and an example of his work will feature in “Documentary Week”.

Audrius Stonys (Lithuania, 1966) has made 15 films as an independent director and producer. He is a member of the European Film Academy and the European Documentary Network (EDN).

In 1992 his first film “Earth of the Blind” won the “FELIX” prize for best European documentary of the year, and recently his latest production “Ramin” (2011) was selected for various festivals including Dei Popoli and Visions du Réel. In 2002 he was awarded the National Prize of Lithuania.

He has worked as a teacher at the European Film College (Denmark) and Tokyo Waseda University (Japan).

On Thursday 26 July he will give a master class at DocMontevideo, where we will gain an insight into how he envisages and tackles the documentary genre. He will also be presenting one of his films and afterwards he will engage in an open dialogue with the audience.
