minutoOne Minute on Earth

One minute on Earth is a competition-workshop coordinated with Uruguayan universities and schools that run cinema and communication courses.

More than 100 years ago the Lumière brothers used their camera to film a series of ordinary events, and this gave rise to a new way of perceiving reality. These early films included A train arriving at a station, Workers leaving a factory, The waterer getting wet, and Breakfast with the baby. One minute on earth is a re-creation of that pioneering effort. It involves a look at today’s reality using a similar technique to that historic event: a single shot from a fixed point lasting one minute.
