
Documentary Pitching
Documentary Pitching involves a training path for 10 participants with projects from Latin America. The aim is to boost their creative possibilities and provide opportunities for obtaining finance and positioning their products in the international market.
SCHEDULE
Writing Workshop
This workshop aim to scrutinize and revise the proposals so each one will emerge in its best possible version. This workshop will work during 40 hours of immersion in writing where there will ben an analysis of the narrative construction of each project and in-depth work on the relation between the materials that make them up and the impulse that determines what the writer wants to say.
Each project will work a total of 4 hours in which:
– Viewing and presentation of the project
– Questioning, analysis and reconfiguration of the project
– Preparation for pitch presentation
– Pitch test
The work with each project will be done with the presence of the rest of the participants, so it is essential to have availability throughout the workshop. The pitching script review and correction will be individual via email.

Mentor: Marta Andreu

Marta Andreu
Marta Andreu (Spain) is the academic coordinator of DocMontevideo. In 2004 she founded Estudi Playtime in order to devote her time to producing creation documentaries. Her last production “Amanecer” was awarded as best Colombian film at FICCI. In 2017 she founded Walden a documentary training residence. In 2004-2005 she coordinated a Spanish documentary cinema retrospective for Cinéma du Réel. She analyses documentary scripts for the Centre de Desenvolupament Audiovisual. She has a degree in audiovisual communication and a master’s in creation documentary from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
July 21 : Documentary Pitching
Each of the 10 participants will have seven minutes to present his project to a panel of representatives from television channels and decision makers. The panel has seven minutes to give a response, raise doubts and ask questions.
July 26,27 y 28: Meetings with representatives from TV channels and decision makers
Based on the Pitching, market meetings between the participants and the decision makers will be arranged.
July 29: Award ceremony
The prizes for the projects in the Documentary Pitching will be awarded.
About the Documentary Pitching call :
The call is for directors and producers of unitary documentary projects in development or work in progress to participate in the DOCUMENTARY PITCHING of DocMontevideo 2022 that will be held virtually between July 18 and 29, 2022.
Eligibility:Documentary feature film projects that are in the Development or Work In Progress stage, whose Director or Producer are Latin American and / or whose realization occurs mainly in Latin America, may apply for Documentary Pitching. To apply for the call, it is a condition to present a teaser of the project and make the payment of a pre-registration of 35USD valid for a Documentary Seminar accreditation for one of the project members. Those forms that do not include a link to the teaser or that have not paid the pre-registration will not be considered. In the event that the project is selected, the participation of the director is mandatory.
Registration for Documentary Pitching provides:
– Registration of a project for Documentary Pitching.
– Introduction to Documentary Pitching one month before the making of DocMontevideo.
– Documentary Writing Workshop.
– Training for Pitching.
– Presentation in the online Documentary Pitching.
– Coordination of remote meetings with the players who expressed interest.
– Application for the category awards (the awards will be announced on the web).
.- Presentation of the project and the participant in the official digital catalog of DocMontevideo and on the online platform.
– Accreditations for 2 people for the Documentary Seminar.
Pre-registration cost: The cost of pre-registration to the Documentary Pitching is USD 35 and includes a Documentary Seminar accreditation with access to the master classes and case studies, access to the exhibitions of the Online Documentary Week and to the market area that will have the library of selected projects, links to the 2021 recorded pitchings (series and feature films), agenda of participants, producers and players, with the possibility of interaction via chat and messaging.
Registration cost: The cost of registering for the Documentary Pitching of the selected projects is USD 250 and includes the participation of up to 2 representatives. The accreditation for an extra participant is USD 50. The application to the call will cost USD 35, which will be deducted from the final payment of the selected project. In Uruguay, the cost of registration for CEPPU and ASOPROD members is USD 200. Once the selected projects are confirmed, an email will be sent with payment instructions and they will have 10 calendar days to confirm their participation.
