THE REALIZATION LABORATORY is an activity of DocMontevideo, aimed at filmmakers and the public interested in getting closer to the universe of documentary creation.
The Production Laboratory is a two-day program of activities, aimed at filmmakers, with the aim of reflecting on the creative process and the link between narrative, essay, documentary and experimental. It consists of two sessions that will be carried out through zoom with a quota of up to 35 participants, in which the process and role of the director can be deepened, based on the work and the approach of the invited creator.
The activity will take place 6th and 7th of july.
It is a requirement to participate in the Laboratory to understand and speak English.
Travis Wilkerson (USA, Denver), has developed his work between fiction, performance and documentary, through a strongly political film essay. His work is internationally recognized, exhibited at festivals such as Sundance, Toronto, Locarno, Yamagata and in art circuits and museums. The NY Times called his latest movie Did you wonder who fired the gun? – “An urgent, often corrosive look at the past and present of the United States through the prism of family, patriarchy, white supremacy and black resistance” -. His wobbly Frank Little lynching agitation essay, An Injury to One, was named one of the decade’s best avant-garde films by Film Comment and a “political-cinematic milestone” by the LA Times. In your cinematography are titles like Machine Gun or Typewriter? (2015) and Distinguished Flying Cross (2011).
July 6th and 7th : Laboratory of Realization “Found Images“
Time: 4pm to 7pm (UTC -3) | Modality: Conference via Zoom
This is a laboratory to work with “found images” In times of turmoil, where images flood all channels without any apparent sense, it becomes urgent to work on “found images”. What makes an image political? What makes an image useful? Can an image be a weapon? Can an image take apart a weapon? Images, like any material, can be transformed. This is a laboratory on radical transformation.
