LABORATORY OF CREATION AND ACTIVISM
The Laboratory of Creation and Activism is a program aimed at experimental filmmakers, cameramen and audiovisual poets. It consists of a master class that will be held through the Webbinar platform and a second session that will be held through a zoom meeting with a quota of up to 35 participants.
The activity will take place on July 30 and 31.
The laboratory will be conducted in Spanish, only the master class will have an English translation
Anto is an experimental filmmaker, curator, and performance artist from Chile, who lives and works in New York. Formated in physical theater, Anto explores the dynamic interconnections between experimental narrative, poetic documentary film, and stage art.
Their recent work has been screened at various alternative festivals and galleries, including Mills Gallery at the Boston Center for the Arts, Echo Park Film Center, Montreal Underground Film Festival, Artifact Small Format Film Festival, Crater-Lab, Zumzeig CineCooperativa, Hot Bits Film Festival, Anthology Film Archives and the Craig Baldwin Other Cinema movie series in San Francisco. Currently, Anto is a curator of film screenings as a freelance programmer and a part-time program coordinator at The Flaherty.

The camera is the body and the body its the protest

In this laboratory we will explore the possibilities of the camera as a witness body during protests and social demonstrations. We will also learn how the camera is equivalent to the body and how our bodies can help us manifest social, political, and gender discontent by combining documentary and experimental practices with performance.

Eligibility: Filmmakers and the general public may apply to the Laboratory.
Registration fee for the Creation and Activism Lab is USD30-. It is a precondition to have accreditation to DocMontevideo (Seminar, Industry or Industry +). If you are not accredited, in the response to your request the links will be sent to you to select one of the 3 modalities (Seminar cost USD35-, Industry cost USD50-, Industry + cost USD65-).
